Chapter 1. About ComPact Release 1.2

Welcome to ComPact, the tool for Comprehensive Package Management by Elego. ComPact is aimed at developers and companies carrying out software production in-the-large. It offers integrated support of a wide range of technical management tasks involved in that. ComPact virtually frees its users from a great deal of these activities.

Elego ComPact is a set of Software Configuration Managament Tools, that offer support for developers, release engineers, and managers in the fields traditionally known as

Support for

in the form of bug tracking support is currently offered by inclusion and adaptation of a separate product, but will be integrated more tightly in future releases.

Elego ComPact is based on the simple yet powerful concept of software packages. Unlike other tools, it applies this unique concept to all domains mentionend above, achieving a high degree of integration while being easy to use. ComPact utilizes abstraction mechanisms well-known in the traditional field of software engineering and uses them to manage the building and versioning of software, as well as parts of the whole development process.
